The Iowa State Cyclones head to Palo Alto, California, to compete in the Stanford Intercollegiate. This tournament will be held Friday to Sunday, playing 18 holes a day to finish with a total of 54 holes through the tournament.
The Cyclones look to end their fall season with a bang, as they have not placed lower than fourth this year in any tournament. They strive to continue their success in this tournament in preparation for the spring season.
Last year, the Cyclones placed seventh, shooting +18 above par, but shot a tournament low round of 287 to put their total at 870.
The highest placing Cyclone was Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn, tying for 34th shooting +3 over. Struggling at this tournament, Pammy Chookaew placed in a tie for 36, but with her dominating senior season, there is a good chance she bounces back at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
Junior Keeley Marx is also looking to improve from last year after placing in a tie for 78th with +17. The lowest placing Cyclone was Alexandra Vidal, who shot +20 over par, which placed her in a tie for 89th.
Iowa State will face three Big 12 opponents, including Arizona, Arizona State and Oklahoma State. They will also face seven teams ranked in the top 25, including No. 1 Stanford and No. 3 Texas.
This tournament will be held at Stanford golf course. This course is known for its challenging layout with rolling hills, strategically placed bunkers and a mix of long and short holes.
Originally designed by George C. Thomas Jr. and William P. Bell in 1930, it features significant elevation change between the front and back nines. Key characteristics include expansive fairways, flat but large greens and a well-designed course that is exclusive to the Stanford community and their guests.
The Stanford Intercollegiate is a tournament that supports PlayForHer to help raise funds in support of breast cancer awareness research. Each year, it’s Stanford’s goal to raise $250,000 through this tournament in support of Dr. Allison Kurian’s of Stanford and Dr. Hope S. Rugo’s of UCSF breast cancer research. Since launching in 2023, the PlayForHer initiative has raised $455,000 for breast cancer research.
This year, its 2025 honoree is reigning NCAA Coach of the Year and 2025 National Champion, Emily Fletcher of Northwestern University. Fletcher was first diagnosed in 2010 and underwent treatment over the course of a year. She was cleared in the spring of 2011 and is now a proud 15-year cancer survivor.
