AMES — Iowa State junior forward Milan Momcilovic announced he is declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft and entering the transfer portal Sunday, following three years of being a Cyclone.
Momcilovic marks the fourth Cyclone to enter the transfer portal, following behind Mason Williams, Dominick Nelson and Cade Kelderman, complementing the absence of four graduating seniors.
“It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NBA,” Momcilovic wrote via Instagram on Sunday. “At this time, I’m turning my full focus to the NBA Draft, while also entering my name in the Transfer Portal, with the goal of being in the 2026 NBA Draft.”
Momcilovic is the first in NCAA history to lead the nation in 3-pointers and 3-point percentage. The 6-foot-8 Pewaukee native finished his junior year averaging 16.9 points per game, shooting 48.7% from deep and 50.6% from the field.
Spending three consecutive seasons as a starter for the Cyclones, Momcilovic will leave the cardinal and gold jersey behind as the first all-time player to have at least five made 3-pointers in a game.
Momcilovic leaves Iowa State following major improvements over his three seasons, finishing overall with 1,349 points, 108 assists, 60 steals and 323 rebounds.
“Milan [Momcilovic] and I have had meaningful discussions about his future over the last couple of weeks,” head coach T.J. Otzelberger said via Instagram on Sunday. “He needs to focus on what is best for him and his family. We can’t thank him enough for what he has done for our program. We look forward to following him as he pursues his dream of playing in the NBA.”
Momcilovic has until May 27 to withdraw from the draft to retain NCAA eligibility, as he has one year of college eligibility remaining.
