Former Iowa State defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin signed with the Oakland Raiders on Monday. Rubin’s management firm, Sportstars, announced the news in a tweet.

Rubin, 31, played in 12 games last season, spending time with the Atlanta Falcons and the Denver Broncos.

Prior to last season, Rubin played two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

At Iowa State, Rubin logged 24 games in two seasons and compiled 76 tackles and a forced fumble.

In April, Rubin visited Ames as an honorary captain at the spring game which ultimately was canceled due to poor weather. Rubin said he and his agent planned to wait until after the NFL Draft to explore their options.

“I mean, I’m just open,” Rubin said in April. “I had a successful 10 years [in the NFL]. Whatever happens, happens.”

Now, the former Cyclone heads to Oakland where he’ll compete with Raiders  defensive tackles Justin Ellis and P.J. Hall.
