Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Rick Brunson has resigned Tuesday, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic’s report said Brunson was under investigation by the Timberwolves for multiple cases of alleged improper conduct towards women.

Brunson, the father of 2018 Naismith Award winner and former Villanova player Jalen Brunson who had a nine-year NBA career himself, had previously been acquitted of sexual assault in a 2015 trial.

The Timberwolves issued the following statement on Tuesday:

“Our entire organization – made up of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Minnesota Lynx and the Iowa Wolves – is deeply committed to creating a safe work environment for our employees, partners and fans. Our teams strive to have our actions reflect our values each and every day. We work to maintain high standards of conduct and expect our staff to lead by example. We did not believe Mr. Brunson’s conduct was consistent with those standards.”

Brunson had just finished his second season as a member of Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau’s staff.

The news of Brunson’s resignation comes one day after the Timberwolves dismissed three assistants: assistant video coordinator Wes Bohn, player development coach Vince Legarza and shooting coach Pete Patton, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
