Iowa State men’s golf team sitting in second going into final round at Big 12 Championship

The first three rounds of the Big 12 Men’s Championship is over and the Iowa State men’s golf team holds the second place spot. The Big 12 Championship consisted of four rounds of play at a par 70 course.

After the first two rounds in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Cyclones were sitting in first place with a two stroke lead and a score of 569. Oklahoma was right behind Iowa State in second place with a score of 571. Shortly after Oklahoma is Oklahoma State, currently ranked number one in the nation according to Golfstat, in third place scoring 574 for the first two rounds.

The third round is where Iowa State had a minor drop off, however still in striking position. Iowa State scored a 285 for a combined score of 854. Oklahoma had a round three score of 281 for an overall score of 852. Lastly, Oklahoma State scored a 284 for an overall score of 858.

On the individual leaderboard, sophomore Sam Vincent from New Zealand tied for sixth place with three shots over par and a score of (71-70-72=213) so far in the tournament. Frank Lindwall a freshman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa is tied for eighth place along with two others. Lindwall scored (78-65-71=214) going into the final round tomorrow. Redshirt senior Denzel Ieremia scored (71-73-71=215) to put him tied for eleventh place.

The final round begins tomorrow morning at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
