Cyclones lose a close overtime game to the Longhorns

It took more than 40 minutes for the Iowa State and Texas game to determine a winner as Texas took home the victory with a 74-70 final score. 

It was tied at 31 to end the first half, but with a back and forth second half, the second half ended with a 61-61 tie. 

Texas relied on junior forward Dylan Osetkowski in the first half, while Iowa State depended on its senior guard Donovan Jackson. Osetkowski had 14 points and went 4-for-6 for the 3-point line in the first half. Jackson had 13 points and was 3-for-6 from behind the arc. 

Jackson ended his evening with 24 points. Iowa State also saw production from its post players with Solomon Young and Cameron Lard.

The two Cyclones had six points each and a combined nine rebounds in the first half. Lard finished the game with 21 points and 16 rebounds, while Young ended with eight points and six rebounds. 

This is the second straight loss for Iowa State as the Cyclones continue to search for their first Big 12 win. 

Iowa State has a small break as the Cyclones travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-3, 0-1 Big 12).
