After three quick 3-pointers from Kansas’ Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, the Jayhawks cooled down in the first half shooting 9-for-24 and allowed Iowa State to comeback and make it a 40-37 Kansas lead at the end of the first half.

That lead continued to grow as the Jayhawks won 83-78 to bring Iowa State’s record in the Big 12 to 0-4.

Freshman guard Lindell Wigginton helped the Cyclones keep it a close game with 16 first half points. He finished with 27 points and two rebounds.

Donovan Jackson and Cameron Lard also contributed for Iowa State not only from the points category, but rebounds as well. Jackson had 20 points and four rebounds, while Lard finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

It wasn’t enough though for Iowa State as the Jayhawks had help from two key guards and a 7-foot center. The two guards were Malik Newman and Mykhailiuk and the big center was Udoka Azubuike.

Newman finished the game with 27 points and shot 5-for-13 from the 3-point line, while Mykhailiuk ended the game with 23 points and going 6-for-9 from behind the arc.

Iowa State will look to earn its first Big 12 win this Saturday at Hilton Coliseum at 2 p.m. against the Baylor Bears. The Bears are 11-5 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12.
