The Iowa State gymnastics team made a late addition to the 2018 roster on Wednesday by adding Natalia Ros Vaquer to the program.

Ros Vaquer, who is from Calvià on the island of Majorca in Spain, traveled with the team to this weekend’s meet in Tempe, Arizona.

“Natalia is a very elegant gymnast who has the potential to complement our team very well,” said Iowa State coach Jay Ronayne in a press release. “It remains to be seen how much we will see from her in the immediate future. However, we feel over the next couple of months she can become an impactful member of our team and program.”

Ros Vaquer has international experience, including at the 2015 World Championships and the 2013 European Youth Olympic Festival where she represented Spain.

“We feel that because of her experience internationally, her nerves will not get in the way of her talent,” Ronayne said in the press release. “She is a competitor, she has some fight and that is exactly what we need.”

The first opportunity for Ros Vaquer to potentially compete is this Saturday, when the Cyclones travel to Arizona to compete in a quad meet with Arizona State, No. 14 Auburn and No 20 Iowa.
