Ames Police investigate armed robbery on South Duff Ave

The Ames Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place early Monday morning at the Swift Stop located at 1118 South Duff Ave.

At 2:28 a.m., the Ames Police responded to a call that an individual entered the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the register. The clerk handed cash to the suspect who left the store southbound towards the Best Buy parking lot, according to the press release.

The clerk described the suspect to the officers as a black male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a baseball hat and orange pants, according to the press release.

The Ames Police Department is still investigating and determining the exact loss of the incident.
