Coach Armando Espinosa’s Thoughts:
Espinosa had quite a few thoughts on the tournament and what he saw from his team in California.
“We played a great completion this weekend against Northridge,” Espinosa said. “We have little experience with playing against outdoor teams, but we did really well during the competition.
“[Annabella] Bonadonna got first in her bracket which was huge for us. She had a great tournament, along with Repina and Freeman, they all played their best.”
“We never had to change our strategy. We had to be more patient when the ball came back due to the wind and the girls had to wait for the ball to come back to the baseline and hit their ground strokes. The plan was still the same, go out and be aggressive,” Espinosa said.
The Cyclones have now closed out their fall season and will start back up again in the spring with a home match against Augustana and South Dakota on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
