LGBTQIA+ theme house to open in Maple Hall

Jill O'Brien

This coming fall, Maple Hall will be the new home of Spectrum. According to the Department of Residence website, Spectrum is “a housing community for students interested in building an intentional, inclusive community for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, asexual, and ally (LGBTQIA+) people.”

Students of all genders are welcome to live in Spectrum. Since the goal is to find compatible roommates, roommate pairs may be of any gender.

Spectrum residents will have the opportunity to be a part of the LGBTQIA+ community at Iowa State and learn more about the identities and experiences of fellow residents, as well as partake in activities like floor meetings, LGBTQIA+ events, guest speakers and connecting with other LGBTQIA+ organizations.
