Former All-American wrestler Kyven Gadson has graduated, but he has no plans to leave Ames anytime soon.

Gadson announced on Monday that he will be a part of Kevin Dresser’s Cyclone Regional Training Center. Gadson is the first full time C-RTC athlete.

“Getting Kyven locked into the C-RTC was one of our first priorities,” Dresser said in a release. “You look at a guy who represents the University, this team, like Kyven does and is also a stud on the mat, it was a must have for us.”

Gadson elected to stay at Iowa State after being in contact with Minnesota, Arizona State, Penn State, Northern Iowa and Northwestern.

Dresser also plans to utilize Gadson’s wrestling knowledge to sharpen the Iowa State wrestlers.

“Kyven is incredibly bright,” Dresser said. “We’re going to look to him to mentor our team and be a spokesperson among many things as he continues to train and develop.”

Gadson owns a strong resume, including the 2015 197-pound NCAA title.

Gadson’s most recent success came at the World Team Trials. Gadson finished in second place, qualifying him for the U.S. National Team.

Dresser also mentioned that is staff is evaluating other wrestlers and could have more additions along with Gadson.

“We’re looking at a few guys, some former CWC athletes,” Dresser said in a release. “But we’re not just going to go out and spend money, just to spend money. We want to make sure we are getting the right guys.”
