Open forum Wednesday for Board of Regents
May 30, 2017
The Iowa Board of Regents will hold a forum Wednesday, June 1, before the next meeting, for feedback from the community. The forum is held noon – 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Gold Room.
The Regents will meet June 6 at Iowa State, and June 7-8 at the University of Northern Iowa. There will be new implementation of the 30 minute public comment pilot program at the June 8 meeting.
Public comment will only be at regularly scheduled, in-person meetings of the Board of Regents. There will not be public comment at telephonic meetings or special meetings called by the Board.
Each speaker has three minutes to comment. Commenters must pre-register by completing an online form at least 48 hours prior to the first day of the meeting.
Topics to be discussed at the June meeting:
- Approval of 2017-2018 Tuition Rates.
- Request for a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Elimination of two centers: the Center for Integrated Animal Genomics and the center for Midwest Agribusiness Trade Research.
- Updates on the Iowa State presidential search. The search committee will meet June 5 from 2-4 p.m. in the Uelner Executive Board Room in the Alumni Center.
At the June 5 meeting, the committee will receive its formal charge, discuss the scheduling of public listening sessions about qualities needed by the next president, and talk about next steps, according to the regents website.
