Cyclone’s men’s golf team rally up two spots on second day of Big 12 tournament

The Iowa State men’s golf team climbed up two spots on the leadership board, jumping from ninth place to seventh in the Big 12 Championship in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Winds dramatically reduce, after gushing winds of 35-45 mph conflicted with scores on Tuesday.

The Cyclones rally up to seventh place after posting a 285 in round two and 293 in the third round of the 72-hole tournament. They ended the day at 906 (328-285-293)

The Cyclone’s 285 score was the third-lowest score of the second round behind the Texas’s 274 and Oklahoma’s 284.

No. 18 Texas is on top of the leadership board tied with No. 2 Oklahoma State both at 870, followed by No. 13 Oklahoma at 881, and No 43. Kansas at 884.

Texas’s Scottie Scheffler and Oklahoma’s Brad Dalke are tied for first place in the individual leadership board both at 215 a piece after 54-holes of action.

Iowa State’s Nick Voke is tied for 17th spot. This resulting from firing rounds of 71 and 75, fter a first day score of 76, bringing his score to a 222.

One stroke behind him is Ruben Sondjaja 223(79-73-71), who is tied for 20th spot. His second and third round scored allowed him to rise two spots from his previous ranking.

True freshman Sam Vincent is tied for 36th spot, he made up for his poor first round performance of an 85 by posting a 69 and 75 in his second and third round. He had three birdies and two bogeys today.

Denzel Ieremia is tied for 39th, firing a 232 (88-72-72).

Tripp Kinney is remains in 48th spot, he has a score of 241 (90-75-76).

The Cyclones will finish this Big 12 Championship tournament on Wednesday April 26, completing the final 18-holes of the 72-hole competition.
