The Ames Police Department responded to a robbery at 9:05 p.m. Sunday at the Swift Stop on 3406 Lincoln Way.

The suspect, a black male in his mid-20s with short hair, was wearing a gray sweatshirt and sunglasses when the robbery occurred, said Lt. Dan Walter with the Ames Police.

The suspect reportedly reached over the counter when the clerk opened up the register for a transaction and grabbed the money in the drawer. He then ran out of the store. He had no weapons on him, Walter said.

No injuries were reported.

He was last seen running east from the gas station and running south on Franklin Avenue, Walter said.

The robbery is currently under investigation. Check back to the Iowa State Daily website as more information becomes available.
