5 travel ideas for the Summer

Rachel Trainum

This summer take the opportunity to travel. It doesn’t have to be to another state or even another country, the places to go are endless. Travel is a fun way to explore new areas and give and person memories to look back on. Going out and exploring gives opportunities for endless adventures.

1. Travel to a new place in your home state. Even in small states, there are places that might be new to travelers. Find a state park, museum or city that you’ve never been to. Spend the day exploring by yourself, with family or with friends.

2. Take out a map and draw a circle on it for the distance you’re willing to travel. Either hand the map on the wall and throw a dart to decide where to go, or close your eyes and toss a quarter. Wherever the quarter falls or the dart hits, go to that place and discover somewhere new.

3. Look at the states that border your home state. Choose one of them you’ve never been to, and if possible take a road trip and spend a few days traveling around different parts of that state. Try and find historical sites that give any traveler the opportunity to learn about the history in that area.

4. If a traveler is feeling really adventurous, go to a country that is close to the one you’re from. Have plenty of time to get a passport, and go to a different country and spend a few days or a week living in a different culture.

5. Travel to see one of your friends. At college, students are coming from all over the country and the world. Students also use the summer as their time to have an internship. Make plans to go visit those friends, and have a weekend of exploring the area together!
