Iowa State finishes 2nd in back-to-back tournaments

The Cyclones maintained their second place standing throughout the entire third round at the Mountainview Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz, on Saturday. The team ended the day with a round total of 288 (E), and a tournament total of 866 (+2).

The finish marks the second tournament in a row that the team has finished in second place. 

In two of three rounds at the tournament, the Cyclones posted scores of even par.

Freshman Chayanit Wangmahaporn led the Cyclones, posting a round total of 68 (-4) on Saturday. Wangmahaporn also finished the tournament in second place on the individual leaderboard, marking her highest finish as a Cyclone.

No. 5 ranked Georgia was the only team that performed better than the Cyclones. The Bulldogs finished the tournament seven strokes ahead of Iowa State with a score of 859 (-5).

The Cyclones now take a two-week break until the SMU Invitational on April 1. The SMU Invitational will be the last meet before post season play begins.
