ISU wrestling loses their final regular season meet.

Redshirt junior Lelund Weatherspoon sprawls to maintain his advantage over West Virginia’s Ross Renzi. Wrestling at 165, Weatherspoon won the match with a pin and extended the Cyclone lead to 25-8. The Cyclones won the meet 28-11.

Four of Minnesota’s seven wins against Iowa State were by bonus points, including two pins and a technical fall. 

Minnesota defeated Iowa State 30-10 Friday Night in Minneapolis, Minn.

The evening started at 125 pounds. Kyle Larson failed to get a takedown, losing 3-2 to Minnesota’s Steven Polakowski.

At 141 pounds ISU wrestling’s Nate Boston lost to No. 6 Tommy Thorn 4-0. The next two weights both resulted in pins for Minnesota.

Dante Rodriguez wrestled at 149 pounds for the Cyclones, filling in for the injured Gabe Moreno. Rodriguez, the former 141 pounder, was pinned in 1:46 to No. 16 Jake Short

Ronaldo Rodriguez-Spencer wrestled at 157 pounds after Logan Breitenbach got the call against West Virginia last week. Rodriguez-Spencer was pinned in 4:31.

At 197 pounds Iowa State’s Pat Downey lost by major decision 12-1 to No. 3 Brett Pfarr. Lastly, Marcus Harrington lost by Technical Fall 15-0 at heavyweight.

Earl Hall at 133 pounds and Dane Pestano at 184 pounds both won by decision. Tanner Weatherman at 165 pounds won by major decision for the Cyclones.
