The Iowa State Cyclones women’s tennis team is currently 6-1 for the season, They had another big day victory in Logan, Utah as they took on 2-4 Idaho State.  

 

Right off the racket, the Cyclones started hot by winning the doubles point 2-1. Undefeated so far this weekend, the pairing of Alejandra Galvis and Annabella Bonadonna earned the first doubles point for Iowa State with a 6-3 win over Idaho State’s Lexi Turle and Maggie O’Meara. Following them would be Samantha Budai and Liza Buss who defeated Ekaterina Tugarinova and Nini Guensler 6-4.The Cyclones securing the doubles point that would once again help in building momentum going into single play.

 

Being the last to finish yesterday, Galvis was the first one finish her match today. She earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Sabrina Demerath. Following her was Regina Espindola defeating Monika Van De Vindel 6-2, 6-3. And finally to bring it home for Iowa State was Ana Gasparovich who took a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Jenna Kane.

 

The Cyclones are now 2-0 for the weekend. Not to mention the loss of Anna Kuuttila earlier this week. This team has played better than expected and is aiming for a possible 3-0  weekend in Utah before returning home for a huge match against UNI.

 

Tomorrow the Cyclones travel to Ogden, Utah to face against Weber State who is still looking for their first victory. They face-off at 3 p.m.
