Monté Morris looks to pass the ball against Baylor on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Hilton Coliseum. Baylor won the game 94-89, handing the Cyclones their first home loss of the season.

Chris Wolff and Ryan Young

Week one of Big 12 basketball did not disappoint and here’s to hoping week two keeps is just as fun. It’ll be hard for any matchup to duplicate the awesomeness that was Kansas vs. Oklahoma, but this week has some solid match-ups.

West Virginia gets Kansas and Oklahoma this week, allowing for upset possibilities at the top of the conference standings and Iowa State needs to bounce back with a pair of road games after a disappointing 1-2 start in Big 12 play.

Last week, Ryan went 12-3 in week and Chris finished 11-4. Here goes nothing for week two:

Jan. 12

Kansas at West Virginia

Ryan: You know what? Why not? West Virginia will win this game and upset the No. 1 team in the country. That’s my call, and I’m sticking to it.

Chris: West Virginia won at home against Kansas last year and John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” rang throughout the WVU Coliseum. It’s not happening again. No. 1 Kansas keeps on keeping on.

Texas Tech at Kansas State

Ryan: I’ve been really impressed with Texas Tech so far this year. While they fell to both Iowa State and Kansas, they were in both of those games longer than I expected them to be. They’ll get back on track with a win here.

Chris: Kansas State has had a brutal start to the Big 12 season. They’ve got a 4-point loss to West Virginia, a 3-point loss to Texas and a 10-point loss to Oklahoma. It’s about time they get a win against a Texas Tech team that I’m not sold on yet.

Iowa State at Texas

Ryan: It won’t be easy. Texas can surprise teams at times. But the Cyclones should recover nicely after the Baylor loss to beat the Longhorns.

Chris: It hasn’t been an ideal start in conference play for Iowa State. The Cyclones take out their frustrations on a struggling Texas team that recently lost to TCU.

Jan. 13

TCU at Baylor

Ryan: Remember Baylor? The team that just beat Iowa State at home? They shouldn’t have a problem taking care of TCU at home. It may not be a walk in the park, but they’ll win the game.

Chris: Sounds like a walk in the park to me. Baylor rolls big time.

Oklahoma at Oklahoma State

Ryan: The rivalry-factor will keep it close for a while, but I don’t see any way that Oklahoma loses this game. They’re just too good.

Chris: This seems pretty simple. Oklahoma has Buddy Hield and Oklahoma State doesn’t. I’ll take Buddy Hield all day.

Jan. 16

TCU at Kansas

Ryan: Sorry, TCU. A win at Phog Allen just isn’t going to happen here. Not a chance.

Chris: Kansas by 100. Not really, but Kansas by a lot.

Baylor at Texas Tech

Ryan: I’m going to give this one to Texas Tech. If all goes right, Tubby Smith and the Red Raiders will continue on their hot streak and prove that they truly are a good team again by beating Baylor at home.

Chris: I’m not drinking the Texas Tech Kool-Aid yet. Give me Baylor on the road.

WVU at Oklahoma

Ryan: I’m giving this one to Oklahoma, pretty much because they’re the home team. I don’t see the Sooners losing on their home court all season, and they won’t start now.

Chris: I don’t think Oklahoma losses this one at home. Bob Huggins makes it interesting though.

Iowa State at Kansas State

Ryan: The Cyclones will get their second win in a row here, and should take care of business against the Wildcats. I don’t see a stumble in Manhattan, Kan., for the Cyclones.

Chris: Cyclones need a 2-0 week after a 1-2 start in Big 12 play. They get a pair of road wins leading up to a Big Monday showdown with Oklahoma

Oklahoma State at Texas

Ryan: Texas will rally from their loss to Iowa State and beat Oklahoma State on their home court. Not really sure why, but that’s my pick.

Chris: Two teams that I’m not quite sure what to make of in the early season. I’ll take Texas because it’s a home game for the Longhorns.
