Cyclones come away with a sweep against Dakota College – Bottineau

The Cyclones capped off their two game stint against Dakota College – Bottineau in a penalty filled game.

The Cyclones got the game started in a hurry with an early goal from Nick Sandy at 2:13 that was assisted by Dalton Kaake. They weren’t done there, as they added another goal less than four minutes later from Jon Stephens, assisted by Drew Carlson.

The Lumberjacks were able to strike back at 13:08 with a goal from Michael Wirth, assisted by Bryce Enns to cut the lead to 2-1. The Cyclones were able to strike back quickly with a goal from Alex Stephens that was assisted by Carlson and Trevor Sabo to make it 3-1 to end the period.

The second period opened with a multitude of penalties for both teams. The Cyclones started with a slashing penalty from Kaake, and a cross-check from Austin Bissonnette from the Lumberjacks. Following the penalties, the Cyclones were able to extend the lead to 4-1 to end the period with a goal from Michael Addison, assisted by Tony Uglem. The Cyclones were able to continue their positive play through a scoreless third period to secure a 4-1 win.

This will be the Cyclones final series of the semester. They will be back in action January 8, at the Ames Ice Arena against Minot State.
