Playing with a limited lineup, the ISU women’s basketball team dominated Alcorn State (2-7, 0-0 SWAC) on Sunday at Hilton Coliseum, taking control of the defensive and offensive end of the court for a 91-41 victory.

It was Iowa State’s (7-3, 0-0 Big 12) fifth straight victory.

The Cyclones started the game going 1-for-11 from the field and trailed the Lady Braves, 10-7, early in the first quarter.

But Iowa State started to get hot, making its next five shots, and jumped to a 23-12 lead with 8:38 left in the half. That hot shooting sparked a 25-point second quarter for the Cyclones on 9-for-17 shooting. They ended the half on a 20-2 run and entered the locker room leading 43-19.

It was a similar third quarter for Iowa State, as the team finished the period 9-of-20 from the field. The Cyclones extended their lead to 70-35 heading into the fourth quarter.

Iowa State sealed the victory in the final quarter, out-scoring Alcorn State, 21-6.

Sophomore Emily Durr tied a career-high in points with 14 on 4-of-8 shooting.
