Demetri Martin to perform at Great Hall

Comedian Demetri Martin will perform his stand-up routine at 9 p.m. Friday at the Great Hall.

American comedian Demetri Martin will perform his stand-up routine at 9 p.m. Friday at the Great Hall in the Memorial Union. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $12 with an ISU student ID and $20 for the public, with a $2 increase the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased at the M-Shop box office or online via Midwestix.

Over his career, Martin has contributed to many popular comedy talk shows, beginning with “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” in 2003.

Starting in 2005, Martin was also a contributor to “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” He hosted a segment titled “Trendspotting,” which talked about trends in youth culture. This was followed by “Professional Important News with Demetri Martin.”

One of Martin’s early breakthroughs came when he was given his own “Comedy Central Presents” stand-up special in 2004. Five years later, Martin was given his own show on Comedy Central, “Important Things with Demetri Martin,” which ran for two seasons.

In 2007, Martin starred in two music videos; Fountains of Wayne’s “Someone to Love” and Travis’ “Selfish Jean.”

Martin has also released two stand-up albums, “These are Jokes” and “Standup Comedian” in 2006 and 2012, respectfully.
