Black Friday shopping is just around the corner. It happens every year and is a great time to get the most wanted items for the holidays. But what are the best ways to get the most out of shopping? We asked retail workers their tips for successful holiday shopping.

“I recommend shopping the day before, or even a few days before Black Friday so you can have first shot at the new merchandise and still get the Black Friday deals.”

– Schyler Sundvold, The Buckle

“Scope everything out before officially buying from one place. [Using the Target] Cartwheel and the Target card will get [you] an extra 5 percent on top of the Black Friday deals. Make sure you get there early because anything important goes quickly.”

– Kara Leake, Target

“My advice to Black Friday shoppers is to fan out and hit all the different stores. It may be fun to shop with friends, however, you are going to get the best deals and savings if you use the ‘divide and conquer’ technique. Another great piece of advice is to spend within your budget. Yeah, you might be getting some great deals but they won’t be so great when you can’t pay off your credit card bill later. Make sure you spend your money safely and wisely so as not to have any added stress.”

-Savannah Moore, Maurice’s

“Door buster items and special sale items typically exclude coupons because it’s already marked down, and in 99 percent of the case, you are only able to use one coupon per item or purchase. Also when checking out, remember the receipt. We end up with a lot of receipts because customers leave too fast. Ask for your receipt and have a separate place like a purse or a [zip-close] bag to keep them all together.”

-Jackie Horsfall, Younkers

“Just do it all online if you can. Also, like no one is ever there at 3 to 6 a.m., so if you don’t like people, go then.”
