Mipso, Jen McClung to perform at Bluestem Saturday

Folk band Mipso will perform alongside Jen McClung from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. tomorrow at Bluestem stage.

Mipso and Jen McClung will perform from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Bluestem stage.

Tickets cost $10 for students and $12 for adults and are available at Eventbrite.

Local Ames singer and songwriter Jen McClung will open for Mipso. McClung is known for her writing talent and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for her poetry. McClung has released three albums with the most recent being “Wildfire.”

Mipso will be headlining for the night, performing folk and Americana music that is heavily inspired by Appalachia.

They come from North Carolina and have been performing since 2010. They are currently on tour supporting their latest album “Old Time Reverie.”

Mipso has had success in the past releasing an album that reached No. 8 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts, entitled “Dark Holler Pop.”
