The first of two final candidates to lead the Thielen Student Health Center will be visiting the ISU campus this Thursday and Friday.

Shelley O’Connell, who has served as director of the Student Health Center at the University of Northern Iowa since 2008, will be available to meet with students and answer questions in the Gallery of the Memorial Union at 4:10 p.m Thursday.

She will also take part in a one-hour public forum in the Gold Room of Memorial Union at 9:00 a.m Friday. The forum will include a presentation on the role of student health in the education of a student and an opportunity to ask O’Connell questions.

O’Connell graduated from Upper Iowa University in 2003 with a degree in psychology and also earned a master’s degree in post-secondary education from the University of Northern Iowa.

A second finalist for the position will be announced next Tuesday.

The search for a new director comes after a review found widespread problems with the center over the past few years.
