The Cyclones capped off the Gopher Invitational with a solid finish in both singles and doubles play.

ISU continued their doubles success in day three, finishing with a 6-4 record. They also had the pairs of Phippen/Kuutilla and Gasparovic/Bonadonna go undefeated.

This was the first time the Cyclones utilized the ability to switch partners, swapping freshmen Annabella Bonadonna and Liza Buss to create the two new teams Gasparovic/Bonadonna and Budai/Buss. The new teams played well in their first appearences going 3-1 and showing the versatility of the young players.

They also enjoyed success in the final day of singles play. Freshman Annabella Bonadonna finished fourth in her first ever tournament for the Cyclones. Samantha Budai also ended up finishing seventh to cap off the singles play.

This early success could end pay big dividends as the season progresses. This was the first time that they had a chance to play live opponents, and the experience could prove crucial.

The Cyclones will have time to digest the results, with a long break between contests. They won’t compete again until October 23 at the Drake Jamboree.
