Before attention shifts to track and field athletes at the Drake Relays, ‘Tank’ had his moment of fame at the Beautiful Bulldog Contest on Sunday at the Knapp Center in Des Moines.

Tank competed against 49 other bulldogs for “Beautiful Bulldog” in front of a record crowd of more than 1,300 people.

The two-year-old bulldog was crowned the winner of the 36th annual event and will be the official mascot of the 106th Drake Relays.

Other bulldogs competing in the event won awards for Runner Up, Second Runner-up, Drake Spirit, Family Theme, Congeniality, Best Dressed and Rescue Dog Recognition.
