Screen Scene Thursday: ‘Rogue Nation’
March 25, 2015
Tom Cruise is back at it with his death-defying stunts in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, and is taking it to a whole new level in the fifth installment, “Rogue Nation.”
The franchise returns yet again with a brand new director, but this director looks to be one that will click well with lead actor Tom Cruise, as Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie have worked together on “Valkyrie” and “Jack Reacher.”
The plot of this film centers around taking on a seemingly “impossible” to beat organization, The Syndicate, which is described by Simon Pegg’s character Benji as “the anti-IMF.” Alongside Pegg, Jeremy Renner returns as well as Ving Rhames, with the addition of Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson.
The teaser was first released for the film with the full trailer following quickly behind it, and it already has more than 5 million views. If you haven’t already read about it, the plane stunt at the end of the trailer is actually real, and Cruise had to do that eight times to get the perfect shot.
The release date for “Rogue Nation” got moved up almost six months and is now set to release July 31 this summer. You can check out the trailer below.
