With six top-10 finishes in her career, Chonlada Chayanun has come close to an ever-elusive victory.

After posting a first round score of five-under-par 67, Chayanun followed it up with a 69 to tie for the lead at the UCF Challenge and open up one of her best opportunities to notch her first career win.

As a team, No. 32 Iowa State (Golfweek/Golfstat) posted a two-under-par 286 in the second round and is in fifth place. At nine-under-par for the tournament, the Cyclones are 10 shots behind leader, No. 14/11 Vanderbilt.

Chayanun is tied with two other golfers, though 19 golfers are within five shots with one round left to play Feb. 10 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.

One of the 19 chasing Chayanun will be fellow teammate, freshman Celia Barquin.

Like Chayanun, Barquin recorded consecutive sub-par scores of 69 and 71. She is tied for 13th place.

After struggling in round one with a six-over-par 77, freshman Nattapan Siritrai was the third Cyclone to go under-par with a 71. She was the biggest mover up the leaderboard for Iowa State, climbing 30 spots up to a tie for 58th out of 94 golfers.

Junior Cajsa Persson followed an even-par round of 72 in the first round with a 75 and is tied for 49th place.

Freshman M.J. Kamin carded a career-best mark of 73 in round one, but was unable to replicate her success and post a qualifying round for Iowa State after recording an 83.

The third round will begin at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 10.
