Screen Scene Thursday: Ant-Man

While there have been TV spots rolling out and newer, more in-depth trailers for films like “Age of Ultron,” “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “American Sniper,” the one that deserves the most attention is “Ant-Man.”

Many may be asking what “Ant-Man” even is, and that is exactly why its trailer deserves to be reviewed. The “Ant-Man” trailer was revealed over the holiday break, exclusively during ABC’s new television show “Agent Carter” and for good reason.

“Agent Carter” is much like the television show “Agents of S.H.I.E.LD.” in that it falls under the umbrella of Marvel’s shared universe. Showing the trailer during that show not only drew new viewers to the show, but it kept the consistent tone that Marvel has built of in-house teasers.

The “Ant-Man” movie is based off of the 1962 comic created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby appears to inventively tell the story of the two most notable men behind the superhero suit.

The persona was originally brought about by Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, but the torch was passed down to Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd. Scott Lang is known for poking fun at the suit and constantly having the last little quip, which makes the casting Paul Rudd make perfect sense. The cast also includes Hayley Atwell, keeping the consistency of Agent Carter, Evangeline Lilly and Judy Greer. Corey Stoll will be playing Darren Cross and presumably the antagonist Yellowjacket.

The film hits theaters July 17 after the dark sequel the “The Avengers” hits in May. Check out a link to the trailer below!
