The ISU men’s golf team will make its spring debut at the Arizona Intercollegiate on Jan. 26 in Tucson, Ariz. Here are five facts about Iowa State’s first event of 2015:

1. Iowa State recorded a 25-9-1 record in the fall season, though it has yet to face any of the 15 teams in the field this week at the Arizona Intercollegiate.

2. Returning champion No. 21/22 California (Golfweek/Golfstat) is the highest-ranked team in the field. New Mexico’s Gavin Green — No. 7 in Golfweek’s individual rankings — is the highest-ranked individual.

3. Sophomores Jack Carter, Ruben Sondjaja and Nick Voke, and seniors Sam Daley and Scott Fernandez will start for Iowa State. Carter will replace redshirt junior Collin Foster, who started all three events in the fall season.

4. The host course, Sewailo Golf Club, a 7,262 par-71 track, was designed by former PGA Tour golfer Notah Begay III.
