Tanning data for the United States

There have been many studies and surveys about tanning and the proportion of people who tan.

According to the 2011 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System

• 13 percent of all high school students indoor tan

• 21 percent of high school girls indoor tan

• 32 percent of high school senior girls indoor tan

• 29 percent of white high school girls indoor tan

The National Health Interview Survey of 2010 found the following percentages of white, non-Hispanic women indoor tanned.

• 32 percent aged 18-21

• 30 percent aged 22-25

• 22 percent aged 26-29

• 17 percent aged 30-34
