The autopsy has been completed for Tong Shao, the Iowa State international student whose body was found in the trunk of a car in Iowa City on Sept. 26.

However, officials are not releasing information about the cause of death because it could jeopardize the investigation, the Des Moines Register reported. 

Shao, junior in chemical engineering, was last heard from on Sept. 8 when she was in Iowa City visiting a friend. She was reported missing on Sept. 17 by Ames Police.

Authorities continue to search for Xiangnan Li, a Chinese international student at the University of Iowa and a known associate of Shao’s. The car containing Shao’s body was found at Dolphin Lake Point Enclave in Iowa City, the same place where Li lived. Li is believed to have returned to China, Iowa City officials have said.
