Cyclones lose title in Cy-Hawk series dual

Redshirt sophomore Kyle Larson is taken down by Iowa’s Thomas Gilman. After allowing another takedown, Larson lost the 125-pound match 6-1 in the Cy-Hawk Series duel which took place Nov. 29 in Iowa City. The No. 15 Cyclones struggled to secure close matches, falling to rival No. 1 Iowa 28-8.

Iowa State and the its inner-state rival squared off at the annual Cy-Hawk Series dual hosted in Iowa City on Nov. 29.

No. 1 Iowa leads the rivalry with winning the past four meetings the Cyclones. The No. 15 Iowa State gave up another victory to the Hawkeyes, losing the duel 28-8.

Redshirt seniors Michael Moreno and Kyven Gadson were the only Iowa State wrestlers that earned points at the duel. However, Gadson cost the Cyclones a point by being penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct in the 197-pound match.
