30 years a transformation: A brief history on the College of Business

The College of Business is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The Gerdin Business Building is also celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Here’s a brief timeline history of the College of Business:
1920s
Business courses were offered in the Department of Economics.
1929/30
A name change from Business Engineering to Engineering Economics.
Late 1930s
A name change to Industrial Economics in the Department of Economics and Sociology.
1953
The accounting program qualifies as a major for the CPA examination.
1959
Department of Industrial Administration becomes part of the new College of Science and Humanities.
1969
Department moves to Carver Hall.
1980
School of Business Administration forms.
1983
Board of Regents approves the formation of the College of Business Administration.
1984.
College of Business Administration officially forms.
College of Business Administration Citation of Achievement established.
First BBA degrees awarded to 205 fall semester College of Business Administration graduates.
1985
Board of Regents approves MBA program.
1986
Center for Professional and Executive Development established.
1993
Management Information Systems major established.
1998
College of Business initiative launched with $10 million gift from Russell and Ann Gerdin.
2000
Board of Regents approve Gerdin Business Building and Masters of Accounting Program.
2004
Gerdin Business Building opens Jan. 6, 2004.
