1. Texas (11-0, 3-0 Big 12): The Longhorns look poised to run the table and have the top spot locked down for the time being.

2. Oklahoma (11-4, 2-0 Big 12): The Sooners and the Kansas State Wildcats are in a dead heat for the second spot, but an unblemished conference record gives Oklahoma the edge.

3. Kansas State (15-2, 2-1 Big 12): A road victory against Kansas looks good on the Wildcats’ resume, but a home loss to Baylor is just the opposite.

4. Iowa State (8-5, 1-2 Big 12): The Cyclones may not have a flashy record, but with losses to the top three RPI teams, the schedule gets a lot easier from here.

5. Kansas (12-5, 0-3 Big 12): The Jayhawks received preseason votes to finished second in the Big 12, but have three straight losses to the top three teams in our rankings. They’ll need to get off the schneid to reclaim the No. 4 spot.

6. Texas Tech (14-2, 2-2 Big 12): A .500 conference record keeps Texas Tech near the middle of the pack. Matches at Texas and Oklahoma this week will say a lot about the Lady Raiders.

7. Texas Christian (12-2 , 2-2 Big 12): The Horned Frogs already have half as many conference wins as in each of the last two years. Though they aren’t contenders, they are showing improvement.

8. West Virginia (11-6, 1-2 Big 12): A slow start to Big 12 play is starting to show the Mountaineers’ 10 game nonconference winning streak may have been misleading.

9. Baylor (10-7, 1-2 Big 12): The Bears went 0-2 this last week against teams in the bottom half of the Big 12. Until they can show some signs of life, Baylor looks to stay at or near the bottom.

10. Oklahoma State (0-0, 0-0 Big 12): Whether Desmond Roland crossed the plane, this writer doesn’t know. But if you want to criticize anyone, pick Mike Gundy – HE’S A MAN!
