The ISU soccer team (6-8, 0-4 Big 12) continued its recent struggles, losing 1-0 to Oklahoma on Oct. 5. This is the team’s fifth straight loss, and the Cyclones now fall to 0-4 in conference.

Oklahoma scored a goal in the first few minutes of the second half to take a 1-0 lead. That goal would end up being the only goal of the match. The goal came off of a free kick from 15 yards out.

The goal was credited to Laura Rayfield, who took the free kick, though it was unclear whether or not the ball was deflected by another Sooner.

The Sooners were able to fend off multiple scoring chances by the Cyclones late in the game and hold on for the 1-0 shutout win.

Iowa State’s leading goal-scorer Koree Willer was sidelined for much of the first half with an apparent injury, though she was able to come back and play during the second half.

The Cyclones will have the next 12 days off before taking on West Virginia on Oct. 17 in Ames.
