Five things to know about freshman forward Zack Johnson

Here are five things to know about Cyclone Hockey freshman forward Zack Johnson.

1. Johnson lost one eye due to being afflicted with Coats’ disease when he was six months old. He now lives with a prosthetic eye.

2. Johnson was named to the Big 9 All-Conference team as a senior, scoring 16 goals and assisting 14.

3. After graduation, Johnson moved to junior hockey and competed for tier II team Austin Bruins. After not receiving a lot of playing time, he played for the Twin Cities Northern Lights hockey team and placed second in the national championships.

4. Johnson tried tier II junior hockey again with the Coulee Region Chill, but faced more of the same with limited playing time. That drove him to the Wisconsin Whalers, a tier III junior hockey team. He had his best season with 26 goals and 45 assists.

5. Johnson is currently the point leader with 11 points for the Cyclone Hockey team.
