GAMER: Volleyball tops Oklahoma in four sets
October 12, 2014
The Lowdown
The ISU volleyball team picked up a much-needed conference win Oct. 12 by defeating the Oklahoma Sooners, 3-1.
The Cyclones (9-6, 2-3 Big 12) jumped ahead by fending off a late-set rally from the Sooners (12-5, 3-1 Big 12), but the Sooners fought back to take the next set.
That would prove to be all Oklahoma could muster, as Iowa State narrowly won the next two sets to secure ISU coach Christy Johnson-Lynch’s 199th career victory. The Cyclones won 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 28-26.
X-Factor
Morgan Kuhrt: The redshirt sophomore has come on strong over the last few weeks in place of injured teammates but is showing she deserves her place in the starting lineup. Kuhrt finished the match with 21 kills while hitting at a .273 clip to go with 11 digs.
