Quick pick-me-ups to make your day better

With the stresses of school and work, students need ways to make themselves feel better in healthy and positive ways. Here are some options for a pick-me-up during any day.

Laughing: Having a giggle with a friend or busting a gut to that hilarious TV show is a great way to feel better. With every laugh, you take in more oxygen to increase blood flow and decrease stress levels.

Clean: By having clutter around, it can create an overwhelming feeling of stress. Clearing that desk space will create a healthier environment to relax in.

Drink some OJ: Not only is a good addition to breakfast, but research has shown vitamin C helps manage stress levels and boost immunity systems.

Take a Walk: Exercising releases endorphins, which are a neurotransmitter in the brain that helps you feel better. Walking also helps you focus, which will make that to-do list seem a little less impossible.

Just Breathe: Taking deep breaths is not a cliche, but actually helps calm your body by pumping oxygen through your system. Breathing in scents such as lavender or rosemary have also been proven to decrease stress levels.
