Ways to get help for domestic violence victims

Michaela Ramm

Domestic violence is an issue that can happen anywhere to anyone.

According to justice.gov, “domestic violence [is] a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner.”

Domestic violence is not just physical. It can be sexual, psychological, emotional and economic abuse as well.

If you or someone you know may be experiencing domestic violence, there are ways to get help.

Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233

Or, chat live with a representative on the organization’s website.

Contact the Assault Care Center Extending Shelter in Ames on the website, or through one of their 24/7 crisis hotlines:

Sexual Abuse Crisis Line: 1-800-203-3488
