Graduate student Brian Biekert will compete in his first cross country event as a member of the Cyclones Nov. 1 at the Big 12 Championships.

Biekert arrived at Iowa State after helping Central Connecticut State earn three Northeast Conference Championships.

In 2012, Biekert placed ninth at the Northeast Conference Championships, and placed 124th out of 239 at the NCAA Regionals.

Biekert was an NCAA qualifier in the steeplechase and holds a personal best of 8:50.54 in the 3000m-steeplechase.

Biekert is using his remaining eligibility to attend graduate school at Iowa State, and compete for the team’s cross country and track and field programs.
