Iowa State wins game one of Colorado road trip

Iowa State started off strong with three first half goals, which were all the Cyclones needed to take a 3-0 win over Northern Colorado.

Koree Willer got the scoring started as she was able to find the back of the net twice in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Willers’ goals were her fifth and sixth of the young season, already surpassing her total of four goals last season.

The third and final goal of the game was scored by freshman forward Maribell Morales, who made her first appearance since the second game of the season when she injured her shoulder.

The goal was the first of Morales’ career. The Cyclones improved to 5-2 on the season with the win, which was the Cyclone’s fourth-straight win.

The win was also the Cyclones’ second consecutive shutout after not allowing a single goal to North Dakota State last game.

The Cyclones will wrap up their two-game Colorado road trip on Sept. 14 as they face off against Denver University.
