Maribell Morales works toward peak condition after injury

Maribell Morales was expected to make an impact for ISU women’s soccer this season. However, an early-season injury temporarily delayed that. Here is a quick look at Morales’ injury timeline:

Aug. 15: Scored goal in exhibition game against Nebraska-Omaha

Aug. 22: Dished out two assists in season opener against Mississippi State

Aug. 24: Suffered shoulder injury in second half against Ole Miss

Sept. 12: Scored first career goal in return from injury against University of Northern Colorado.

Now Morales is healthy again, but she is still working on getting back to her peak physical condition and regaining her confidence after the injury.

With the conference season right around the corner, look for Morales to take that next step in her recovery process and make her presence felt for the Cyclones’ offense.

Koree Willer, the Cyclones’ top scorer with eight goals this season, is often the focus of the opposing defense, being double- or triple-teamed when she has the ball.

Morales hopes to step up and be a key contributor throughout the conference season.
