Four ISU softball players earned All-Region honors in 2014 — the first time Iowa State has had any players receive the honor in 15 years.

ISU center fielder Brittany Gomez was named to the First Team as was designated player Aly Cappaert. The two players were only the sixth and seventh First Team selections in program history.

Third Team selections included catcher Rachel Hartman and shortstop Lexi Slater.

The four All-Region selections are the most in ISU history, breaking the previous record of three that occurred in 1995.

Three Cyclones were also awarded all-conference honors in 2014.

Brittany Gomez was joined by fellow outfielder Sarah Hawryluk on the All-Big 12 Second Team, and first baseman Jorden Spendlove was selected as part of the Big 12 All-Defensive Team.

Iowa State also boasts eight Academic All-Big 12 players including Cappaert, Hawryluk and Spendlove as first team selections. Also named to the first team were infielder Maddie Reese and second baseman Sara Davison.

Gomez, infielder Liana Henry and infielder Sara Rice were second team selections.
