Singer-songwriter, actress and model Sky Ferreira will be performing Saturday for Live @ Veishea replacing originally scheduled band, Twenty One Pilots.

Becoming popular off of Myspace videos of her singing she had posted after dropping out of high school, Ferreira was discovered and scored a recording deal with Parlophone in 2009.

Ferreira wants to be known as artist who knows what she is good at and will only do what she is good it.

“I write pop songs, that’s just what I know how to do well, I guess. And I have no problem with that. But I just didn’t want it to sound like everything else that’s out. And I wanted it to show some of the influences I have more than it was,” Ferreira said in and interview with Billboard about the release of her first extended play “As if.”

In 2011 Ferreira released “As if” and combined the musical genres of electropop and dance music.

In 2012 Ferreira released her second extended play “Ghost” that featured a more stripped down pop sound and included collaborations with Jon Brion and Shirley Manson.

Ferreira’s debut album “Night Time, My Time” was released in 2013 and featured the single “You’re Not the One.”

When it comes to song writing, Ferreira wanted to be known to have an edge to her pop and not be known for bubblegum pop.

“I like big choruses, but I also like things that are a bit drone-y sometimes. So it’s kind of a matter of balancing both. When I write a pop song I don’t go into it thinking ‘Oh can I get this on the radio? Is it catchy enough?’ When I write I try to write how I speak, so then it’s honest to what I’m actually doing,” Ferreira said in an interview with Billboard.

“At this point, I’m just glad it’s coming out, and also I just want it to come out so finally I can move on to the next thing. There’s been so much pressure leading up to this point,” Ferreira said in an interview with Rolling Stone about the release of her latest album.

Ferreira got her break into mainstream success when she opened for pop artist/television star Miley Cyrus as part of the Bangerz Tour in 2014.

Ferreira met Cyrus through interactions and Twitter and eventually was invited to the Bangerz album release party by Cyrus herself. The two have become friends which lead to them touring together according to an interview Ferreira had with Rolling Stone.

Ferreira got her acting career started staring in the indie film “Putty Hill” in 2010 and stared in the 2013 film “The Green Inferno” playing the character Kaycee. The film was released at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ferreira sees herself only playing music in ten years as well as staring in more films.

“Still doing music! Maybe some other things, I’d like to branch out with movies, not just acting. I met Eli Roth through Jeremy Scott and I’ll be in ‘The Green Inferno,’ out next month. Even though it’s a small part, it was still awesome to work with him, he’s like the master of horror movies these days,” Ferreira said.
