The ISU gymnastics team placed second in the Big 12 Championships Saturday in Morgantown, W. Va., and secured a spot in the 2014 NCAA Regionals in the process.

No. 3 Oklahoma took home the team award with a score of 198.000, followed by Iowa State with 196.650 and West Virginia with 196.375. Iowa State’s team score is a season-high, shattering a mark set against West Virginia in February.

En route to putting up a season-high team score, the Cyclones eclipsed the 49-point mark on every event, something they had not done in a single meet this season.

Senior Camille Santerre-Gervais was the lone Cyclone that earned an individual award, scoring a 9.950 on the bars. Santerre-Gervais has now earned the award on bars in six of the last seven meets.

As a result of her dominance, Santerre-Gervais was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Year.

Junior Caitlin Brown set a career-high of 39.350 in the all-around competition, but narrowly missed the top of the podium. West Virginia’s Hope Sloanhoffer put up a score of 39.425 to earn the all-around title.

The Cyclones will learn where they are headed for regionals Monday night and will compete on April 5.
