After ISU quarterback Grant Rohach led Iowa State to its biggest comeback in school history Saturday against West Virginia, he was honored as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Rohach led the Cyclones (3-9, 2-7 Big 12) to a 24-point comeback 52-44 victory in triple overtime against the Mountaineers. The redshirt freshman went 25-of-39 passing with 331 yards passing and four passing touchdowns in the victory. Rohach also rushed for a 54-yard touchdown in the first half.

With the performance, Rohach became the first freshman quarterback in school history to pass for 300 yards in consecutive games.

Rohach finished his freshman season appearing in seven of Iowa State’s 12 games after becoming the starter on Nov. 9 against TCU and starting the final four games. Rohach ended his first season behind center with 1,208 passing yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

ISU coach Paul Rhoads said in the final weeks of the season that Iowa State would enter the spring with a quarterback battle, but Rohach will take snaps with the No. 1 offense.
