ISU women’s basketball defeats Wayne State in exhibition game

The ISU women’s basketball team defeated Wayne States 76-52 on Sunday, Nov. 3. The win against Wayne State was Iowa State’s first exhibition game this season.

Iowa State started the game up 12-7 after making three 3-pointers in less than four minutes. The Cyclones pulled away form Wayne State after going on an 8-2 run to make the score 17-9 in the first.

Iowa State finished the half leading 35-21. The Cyclones had five three-pointers in the half, including three from junior guard Brynn Williamson.

Iowa State’s five starters and sophomore guard Nicole “Kidd” Blaskowsky got the majority of the minutes during the first half. 

In the second half, everyone on Iowa State’s roster played with the exception of freshman forward Jordan Jensen. Iowa State outscored Wayne State 41-31 during the half. 

Senior forward Hallie Christofferson led Iowa State’s offense with 24 points and had 10 rebounds. In her debut as a Cyclone, freshman guard Seanna Johnson had 15 points and six rebounds.

The Cyclones will play one more exhibition game this week before starting their regular season. Iowa State will face Carthage on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
